ATELITH ("we", "us", "our") publishes three distinct products: ATELITH for Firms — project management software designed for architecture firms; ATELITH ARE Study — an iOS study companion for the Architect Registration Examination (ARE 5.0); and Atelith Grid — an iOS puzzle game. This policy explains what data we collect when you use atelith.com, any of the iOS apps, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), how we use that data, who we share it with, and your rights regarding it.
We respect your privacy and your work. ATELITH is built by an architect, for architects — and the games we make follow the same principle: collect only what's needed, and never sell your data.
By using the Service you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
We collect three categories of information:
We do not collect: location data, contacts, browsing history outside our site, health information, or biometric data.
The ARE Study app is designed to keep your data on your device. We collect almost nothing.
We do not collect: your email address, location, contacts, photos, biometric data, browsing history, or any personally identifiable information about your study habits, accuracy, or progress. We do not have a server that stores your study data. We cannot see what you've studied, how you've scored, or how long you've used the app.
Privacy Manifest: The ARE Study app ships with an Apple-required privacy manifest declaring its data collection. You can review it in the App Store privacy disclosure or in the app's bundle (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy).
Atelith Grid is a puzzle game. It is designed to keep your data on your device. We collect almost nothing.
We do not collect: your email address, name, location, contacts, photos, biometric data, browsing history, or any personally identifiable information. We do not have a server that stores your game data. We cannot see what levels you've played, how fast you've solved them, or how often you use the app.

We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your project content, study activity, gameplay data, or any other data to train any AI model, sell it to third parties, or share it outside your firm.
ATELITH for Firms is built around firms. When you join or create a firm, every other member of that firm can see the projects, punch lists, field reports, and fee estimates within it. This is intentional — it's how teams collaborate.
If you leave a firm, your access ends but the content you created stays with the firm. If you delete your account entirely, your authored content (e.g. punch list items you logged, observations you made) remains with the firm as a record of the project, but is no longer attributed to your name.
This section does not apply to the ARE Study or Atelith Grid apps, which are single-user products with no team or firm features.
We share data only with the third parties we need to run the Service:
We will disclose data if required by law (subpoena, court order). We will tell you if that happens unless prohibited from doing so.
We will never sell your personal information, project content, study activity, or gameplay data.
Photos you upload to punch list items and field report observations in ATELITH for Firms are compressed server-side to approximately 225 KB before storage. They count against your firm's 200 MB storage quota. Photos are stored on the same encrypted infrastructure as the rest of your data and are visible only to members of your firm.
Camera and Photo Library access on iOS is requested only when you tap to add a photo. We don't access your photo library otherwise.
The ARE Study and Atelith Grid apps do not request access to your camera or photo library.
For the web app at atelith.com, we use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (theme, last-viewed project, etc.). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not embed third-party advertising trackers.
The ARE Study and Atelith Grid iOS apps use Apple's UserDefaults to store settings and progress on-device only. No browser cookies are involved. Atelith Grid additionally uses Apple's iCloud Key-Value Storage to sync in-app purchase counts across your devices.
You can clear web cookies in your browser at any time, or delete and reinstall the iOS apps to clear their local data. Doing so will sign you out and forget your preferences but won't affect server-side stored Firms data or iCloud-synced purchase records.
All data transmitted to our servers is sent over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Database backups are encrypted. Access to production data is restricted to ATELITH operators and logged.
For the ARE Study and Atelith Grid apps, gameplay and study data never leave your device, so there is no transmission risk for that content. Subscription and in-app purchase data are handled directly between your device and Apple.
That said, no system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your account, we will notify you within a reasonable time and tell you what happened, what data was affected, and what we're doing about it.
For the Firms product: we keep your account and project data for as long as your account is active. When you delete a project, it's removed from active databases within 30 days, including any uploaded photos. If you delete your entire account, we remove all personally identifiable information within 30 days. Backups containing your data may persist for up to 90 days before being overwritten by routine backup rotation.
For the ARE Study app: your study data lives on your device only. Uninstalling the app deletes it instantly. The Apple ID identifier and subscription state are managed by Apple, not us.
For Atelith Grid: your game progress lives on your device only. Uninstalling the app deletes it instantly. In-app purchase counts synced to your iCloud Key-Value Storage are retained by Apple per their policies and remain available when you reinstall.
We retain billing records (Firms product) for 7 years to comply with tax law.
You can:
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively. All of the above applies to you, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us first — we want to fix it before you need to escalate.
ATELITH for Firms is a professional tool not intended for use by anyone under 16. The ARE Study app is rated 4+ on the App Store for general suitability of content, but the ARE itself is a professional examination and the app is intended for adult test candidates. Atelith Grid is rated 4+ and is suitable for general audiences including children, though it does contain in-app purchases priced at $12.99 that require parental approval on family-managed Apple IDs. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you use the Firms product from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and stored in the US. By using the Service you consent to this transfer. We use standard contractual clauses where required for EU/UK users.
The ARE Study and Atelith Grid apps store no data on our servers; only Apple's services are involved (handled per their own policy and your locale).
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email or by an in-app notice at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that time means you accept the updated policy.
Minor changes (typo fixes, clarifications, restructuring) will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy — please email contact@atelith.com. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
